Touger and I don’t have a keyboard or piano, still. We do have a white Washburn acoustic guitar, but it’s getting old and though it’s smaller, it’s still too big for my hands. So, here’s where the story begins:
It was my birthday in late September and the Friday before my birthday, Touger, in his best shirt, took me to Guitar Center after work! I knew he was messin’ with me…but I was hoping! As we entered the acoustic guitar room, Touger pointed to the Baby Taylor. Too small. I entered through the glass doors (you know which ones I’m talking about) where the Taylor and Marshall guitars hung like gems against the wooden walls. The Big Baby Taylor just didn’t cut it. It was bigger than the Baby but smaller than a regular sized guitar; however, the neck was still too big. Not only that, I didn’t like the shape of the body or the looks of it in general. I picked it up anyway and played. Um, too muffled. Touger concurred. How about the 100 series 114ce? Ooo…the sound was great, but still, too big. Darn! I knew I wasn’t going to go home with one…but I didn’t even find one that I would want
. We went to check out the keyboards instead but I wasn’t in the mood anymore. Oh well. I was disappointed, but I couldn’t let Touger get me…so I walked out smiling
.
Once we got home, Touger sat me down and played me some of my favorite songs (I’m so spoiled)! Some of the songs included: I Will Follow You into the Dark, Somewhere Only We Know, Flume (I think), and then he told me to close my eyes. Hm…what’s goin’ on??? Wait. He then starting playing You Belong to Me. It sounded so good, so full, and new! Before he could start singing I started giggling! “Can I open my eyes? Can I, can I?!” And there Touger was playing my GSmini!!! The body was the same award-winning GS body shape, only scaled down a bit, but it still had a full sound–it was pretty much perfect. Touger handed it to me and said, “It’s yours.” I couldn’t believe it! I already gave up hope! Touger said it had just come out! I couldn’t stop playing!!!
The morning of my birthday I went out with some friends. When I got back and was unlocking the door, I heard scramblings and Touger say, “Are you guys ready?” I thought…”Ok silly, sooo not slick.” I entered, and there Touger was with the laptop. The room was empty. He had skyped some of my family back home (my niece was sooo adorable by the way)! They sang the Happy Birthday song and as they got to the middle of the song, a bunch of my friends jumped up from behind the counter and finished it off! I have great friends. We ate and played jeopardy and watched Ratatouille. It was an awesome birthday*.
So…yeah. Touger got me…again
.
Thank you Touger!!! Thanks for encouraging and motivating me. You’re the bestest, best husband in the whole wide room! Yeah!
