“I can’t!!!”
“Why can’t you?”
Pause.
“I can’t…because I don’t want to.”
This became a familiar conversation between me and my 4 year-old niece, Serene (my Monster)–so cute*.

Touger and I have been here in Durham for about a year and two weeks now. Since then, we haven’t seen much of our family at all. This past week, however, my sister, her husband, their two adorable daughters, Serene and Autumn, and my youngest sister drove all the way from Wisconsin to visit us! We love those guys–especially the two little cuties. It was loud, messy, and fun. (fat sigh) The, oh, so familiar life back at home.

We had nothing much planned. Just chillaxin’ with really good, honest, and encouraging conversations, and the beach–of course. They seem to have really enjoyed it (next time, we’ll stay at the beach longer for sure k guys).

After they left last rainy Saturday, Touger and I sat on the living room floor, reflecting. Somehow, our apartment seem to have gotten much bigger and quieter. I thought it was a bit too quiet.

We really do hope to see you all again, and know that we are continuing to pray for you guys!

Much love
… from NC!
