Greetings friends and family!
I just wanted to post something quickly before I get crackin’ on my studying.
A few months back, I called home and was talking with Cheng. I asked him, “How are you doing Channy the Manny?”
He replied, “Hmm… Let me think about it. I’m doing great!”
I was surprised. ”Really? You’re doing great?”
“Yep,” he said.
“How’s school going for you?”
“It’s great!”
“Um… What have you been learning?”
“Um… Um… I’ve been learning about a lot of stuff. Um… I forgot what but it has been great!”
“Cool. What about at home? How are things going at home?”
“It’s great!”
“Really? How’s mom doing?”
“She’s great!”
“Are you sure everything is ‘great?’”
“Uh huh!”
That was pretty much how the conversation went. I thought it was so funny! He just kept saying that things were great! Who taught him that? Who has influenced him to use that word? It’s a good word but to apply it to everything? That was just funny to me.
Anyways, I’ve realized that Cheng has such an influence over me! These last few days I’ve been describing things as “great.”
Mykou: How was dinner?
Touger: It was great.
Mykou: It was so nice having our friend over for lunch. He is such a nice guy. Don’t you think so Touger?
Touger: Yeah, he’s great.
Mykou: I’m tired. Let’s get some sleep.
Touger: Yeah, that would be great.
All this to say, I miss Cheng a lot. He’s a good little brother. He loves to laugh, fight, and have fun. He doesn’t cry when he gets hurt, he’s a good joker, and he is relentless in his wrestling with you (even if you’re well over 100 pounds heavier than he is, like I am). He is kind to his little sister Lisa, listens to his older siblings (at least his older brothers!), and remembers what you teach him (I’ll have to share a story about this later on).
If you have younger siblings (or young kids) who still actually want to hang out with you, spend time with them!!! You’ll be able to teach them so much and they’ll teach you so much in return. More importantly, you’ll remember how to laugh because they (young kids) laugh all the time.
(Interesting fact: Kids laugh on average about 300 times a day. Adults? About 15.)
Enjoy the little people in your life, they are a gift.
